Alas Vegas (softcover)

Jim likes Alas, Vegas because he also likes Last Call by Tim Powers, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Naked Lunch, and Memento, and this game has elements of all of those,d esigned by the guy who brought us Adventures of Baron Munchausen. It's the debut of a new system called Fugue, where players will create characters with Hollywood-style amnesia and learn who they are as the game progresses. It's got some fascinating elements not for the faint of heart: resolution is achieved via the use of Tarot cards. The GMing duties rotate between players so that no one ever knows the full story at one time, and there's a slew of scenarios in the book, from designer James Wallace, Ken Hite, Gareth Ryder-Hanrahan, and more. It's almost as much fun as waking up naked in a shallow ditch in the middle of the desert.
